How the paper version works
In the browser, statements appear one at a time as you prove suspects. On paper you see them all at once, like a classic logic puzzle. You still have one known suspect to start from, and you still never need to guess: the full set of statements allows exactly one answer.
Tips for paper: pencil a small dot for “probably” and a full letter for “proven”; keep a running tally next to each count statement; and cross out a statement once everyone it talks about is settled.
What is in each pack
- Ten cases: five Easy (4×4, 16 suspects) and five Medium (4×5, 20 suspects), taken from one week of daily cases.
- Everything on one page per case: the grid with each suspect’s name, role and seat, the starting suspect marked, and every statement printed underneath.
- An answer key on the last page, showing every suspect as criminal or innocent.
- Print-ready layout for A4 and US Letter, in black and white, with room to pencil notes beside the grid.
How to save a pack as a PDF
Open a pack, press Print (or Ctrl+P / ⌘P), and choose Save as PDF as the printer. Leave the scale at 100% and margins at default; each case lands on its own page. On a phone, use the share menu’s Print option and pinch out on the preview to save it as a PDF.
For teachers and clubs
The Easy cases work as ten-minute warm-ups for ages ten and up: they need careful reading and small counts, not maths. Medium cases suit older students and puzzle clubs, and make good pair work — one student reads statements aloud, the other keeps the grid. Because every case has exactly one answer that can be proven step by step, they are also a gentle introduction to proof by contradiction. You are welcome to print and copy the packs for non-commercial classroom use.
Good for
- Classrooms and clubs — warm-ups with an answer key.
- Travel and screen-free evenings.
- Puzzle swaps: solve the same case and compare your order of deductions.
